about
"Masks" is one of the most vulnerable tracks that I released, and it definitely marks a vital point for the lyrical level of "Real Mirage". This is a song about that struggle and about that vulnerability that people, myself included, are hiding, or better to say trying to hide. A never-ending fight between the real you and the "you" that you present yourself to the world. The emotion conveyed and the soundscape provided, challenges you to understand, to contemplate about your pain, emotions, thoughts, actions, desires. "Masks" is a lyrical provocation, aimed to commence an intricate introspection.
lyrics
Had a discussion with my God
And apparently
I do better when I'm sad.
What to do? I have no excuse.
I'm confused. (Confused)
I want to know what I'm doing wrong.
Are you the story or just the epilogue ?
But when I speak the truth,
Your mask collides in two.
And when I tell a lie,
My eyes are gasoline.
My mask is full of flames,
It's just me, I remain. (Just me)
I have no excuse, abstracted and confused.
Is it the fumes the world didn't yet consume ?
Searching for a meaning,
Not now, I'm not yet leaving.
But such a facade,
Something I've never had.
But when I speak the truth,
Your mask collides in two.
And when I tell a lie,
My eyes are gasoline.
My mask is full of flames,
It's just me, I remain. (Just me, I remain)
I need medications,
Tell me they're free.
My mask is fading
And you ask all the questions.
I want to do die,
I want to feel terrified.
The eyes never lie,
We're nothing on the inside,
Nothing on the inside. (Nothing on the inside)
I want to die,
To feel the fear
Of being on the edge of the sit
In the art class,
Painting about how much
I love being me.
But such a facade,
Something I've never had. (Something I've never had)
